All About

Neil Culbertson had a late introduction to music. At the age of 17, he began playing around with the family’s keyboard, learning small tunes and some classical compositions from renowned composers. It wasn’t until his early 20’s that he found a deeper passion for piano playing, which partly came from him escaping his college studies and to explore his own compositions. At his school he would play an old upright piano built in 1969. After tinkering and making some slight modifications to it, he eventually held a 2 hour recording session playing pieces written for the piano along with some improvisations. From this he handpicked a few recordings and released his first solo piano album 1969 Gulbransen.

Neil eventually left his day job to pursue more creative outlets. He landed a unique opportunity in Napa California working in video production for an online music education company ArtistWorks, where he helped produce & promote online music schools taught by award winning musicians. From this, he has since expanded his reach to Guitar and Synthesizer and has found a keen interest in the combination of electronic and acoustic elements. Experimenting with the abundance of tonal possibilities from both instruments, Neil released his second album Night Loops where he crafted together sounds from an analog synthesizer and an unconventional approach to Acoustic Guitar where he often tapped, plucked, and bowed it with a cello bow to create minimalistic yet intricate soundscapes.

Neil has since taken his sound live and performs around Northern California providing sounds for unique and intimate spaces.
